Well, well, we finally have our road back after months and months of continuous hold-ups.
There has been hours of waiting in queues, trying to exit our suburbs, even at times having to detour around through Bilambil village and Terranora because of 30- to 40-minute hold-ups. Traffic on occasions has been backed halfway up Scenic Drive towards Bilambil Heights.
The motorists caught up in this debacle showed great patience and should be congratulated.
But what was it all for?
We have a new section of one kilometre.
However, the biggest joke of this so-called upgrade is, we approach this new section of road from both ends of a potholed goat track, with the repaired middle section.
What council would renew a road and only do the middle section?
This present council administration needs a wake-up call and we, as ratepayers and residents, should give them that at the next local election.
This road is the main arterial road in the Tweed Shire and is used by 1000s daily and the road, which is around 2kms, should be totally upgraded, not just the middle section.
New white line markings do not hide this disgrace of a road.
Ratepayers and residents should vent your disappointment to your councillors.
This shire definitely is the patches on patches pothole capital of Australia, and no doubt we will be slugged with another 5 to 6 per cent increase in our rates next year.
