Rugby precarious

New England Rugby are in a precarious position. With only four teams in first grade, if one drops out then they are virtually left without a competition. Guyra and Glen Innes have both shown they are up to first grade but have rejected an invitation to join the men in first grade. Guyra, with first grade players and itinerant Tongan tomato ‘farmers’, have chosen to cower in 3rd grade and crush kids just out of school, they will belt these kids out of rugby. This is NOT the usual style of the Guyra community.
I understand that Barbarians Rugby, a couple of years ago, were being thrashed in First Grade with scores in excess of 100+ to nil .They did not go back to third grade to win at all cost.
Because of the spirit they have developed, they are attracting new players to the club. They have guts!
Glen Innes are only marginally better than Guyra. They opted for 2nd grade when they should be in First Grade. Both Guyra and Glen Innes will both win the premiership in their respective grades but they will lose a lot of the respect their wonderful communities have earned. Should you be frightened about playing First Grade, then simply withdraw. You are affecting the good image of rugby and your communities.
