BUDDING female song writers will be given a rare opportunity to share the stage with Australia music great Rebecca Barnard this weekend.
Ms Barnard will bring her endearing stage presence to the Footscray Arts Centre this Sunday during a free open-air concert.
The anticipated return follows her intensive song writing workshop weekend this year at the centre.
Ms Barnard shared her talent with a group of dedicated women from across the West and this weekend they will be given the special chance to join her on stage to perform.
The song written by the group has been described by Ms Barnard as “amazing…beyond my expectations” and is sure to impress those who gather for the one-off concert.
Ms Barnard re-ignited her music career this year as a solo artist after success in the early 90s as the lead of independent pop-rock band Rebecca’s Empire.
Footscray Community Arts Centre communications co-ordinator Wendy Morrison said the concert would be fresh off the back of Ms Barnard’s tour with Renee Geyer and would be a great afternoon.
“She will present her own songs, as well as a few favourite covers, ranging from sultry pop to smoking jazz, all delivered with her signature warmth,” she said.
Ms Morrison said there would also be performances by the Footscray Flyers circus stars and hip-hop dance and music groovers.
The concert will be held this Sunday 9 December at 3pm children’s activities will be held from 1.30pm to 3pm.
Due to the expected popularity of the concert, bookings are advised and can be made by calling the Footscray Community Arts Centre on 9362 8888.
