SPORT and Recreation and Softball NSW are providing youngsters in Armidale with the opportunity to participate in the innovative Softball Batter Up Boot Camp initiative during the coming school holidays.
The four-hour boot camp for children aged five to 10 years will be held on October 3 at Phil Wheaton Oval in Erskine Street. Pre-registration is required to ensure sufficient resources are available.
Sport and Recreation representative, Gaylene Ryan, said the boot camp will be run by Softball NSW in conjunction with the local softball association.
“The camp aims to provide participants with a skill introduction and development opportunity in a fun, enjoyable environment,” she said.
“It will provide local children with a taste of the sports of teeball and softball while having great time and learning some new skills.
“All participants will receive a bat, ball and cap as part of their registration.”
Ms Ryan said the SBU Boot Camp was an initiative in which her organisation was pleased to work with both state and local sports bodies for the benefit of the local community.
“The kids, the local sport and the community all gain from these types of programs. And who knows, we may start a whole group on their way to successful sporting careers.”
Enrolment forms are available through Armidale District Schools or from Sport and Recreation by phoning 6766 1200. Enrolments close on 2 October.
