DINJERRA Primary School’s Grade 5 and 6 students have turned into mini-community leaders after establishing their own advisory committee.
The Dinjerra Youth Advisory Committee has been meeting to discuss student participation in the school canteen, and current community issues important to youths.
They have also set up a weekly radio station, which shares information about community events, issues and resources with its listeners.
Students attended a leadership camp earlier this year where they attended forums on leadership and current community issues.
Students have also toured the Maribyrnong City Council offices and did presentations to a mock panel of councillors.
