Movement on skate plan

Skaters and bike riders will be pleased this week as Wyndham’s draft Skate, BMX and Bike Strategy rolls into action.
The strategy was developed in consultation with skaters, scooter, BMX riders and cyclists, Wyndham’s Youth Taskforce, young people and key representative bodies including Skate Victoria and Skate Australia.
It was approved by Wyndham City’s ordinary council meeting last Monday.
Harrison Ward councillor Glenn Goodfellow said the draft strategy included a series of recommendations including the development of a large, regional competition-level skate/BMX facility at Baden Powell Drive Reserve in Tarneit.
“The draft strategy sets out the policies and actions required to ensure that the skate, BMX and bike facilities are well-designed and are in the best possible locations for all users,” Cr Goodfellow said.
Copies of the draft strategy will be available from Wyndham Civic Centre, Wyndham City Libraries and the Youth Resource Centre or online at www.wyndham.vic.gov.au. Public submissions on the strategy must be received by Wednesday 24 April.
