PUNTERS got the last laugh on the bookmakers at the Werribee Racing Club on Saturday, with the day dominated by favourites.
Four of the first five races on the card were won by short priced runners with Regina Coeli ($5.10), Razor ($1.70), Moonsmoke ($2.90) Spirit of Many ($2.70) and Neverending Valley ($3.90) mastering the conditions to cross the line first in their respective races.
It wasn’t until the sixth race that bookies finally got some respite when $19.80 shot Pro Tour took out the Werribee Function Centre three-year-old maiden plate over 1400 metres.
Pro Tour upstaged pre-race favourite Barlow and Sweet Agi to edge out second placed Faith ‘N’ Belief.
In the day’s final race, Remagen Bridge got the better of Doing Our Best and It’s Lumsden to send happy connections home with a win.
The Werribee Racing Club’s next event will take place on Saturday 18 May.
