A WERRIBEE woman could become Australia’s next singing sensation after she cruised her way onto the popular TV talent show The Voice.
Caterina Torres was one of only a handful of contestants that managed to make all four judges turn their chairs around, putting her in the rare position of being able to choose anyone she wanted to mentor her.
Her South American background that comes from having parents from Colombia and Uruguay led her to choose Ricky Martin as her coach.
“When I first signed on for the show they hadn’t announced who would be the fourth coach but I thought I would go for it anyway,” Caterina told Star.
“Then when I found out it was Ricky Martin I knew I wanted him to turn around.
“It was great having them all turn around and if I could I would have chosen them all but before I got on stage I knew I was always going to pick Ricky.”
The proud Werribee woman went to school at MacKillop College and at just 22-years-old she said she hopes she has a long music career ahead of her.
Last week she knocked out fellow team member Katie Reeve, again being chosen by every coach as the favourite performer, to progress to the next round.
Caterina has already been tipped as an early favourite to win the show and she said her ultimate dream would be to take her talents to the rest of the world.
“Obviously I definitely want to be a worldwide recording artist and sell out arenas, that’s my long term goal,” she said.
“But my short term goal is to win The Voice.
“Music has always been the most important thing to me and I won’t rest until all my dreams are achieved.”
Caterina is not the only Wyndham resident taking on The Voice with Jessika Samarges from Werribee also having conquered the blind auditions.
