GLEN ORDEN continued its dominating run through the Western Region Football League’s division two competition on Saturday with a 196-point thrashing of Albanvale.
There were highlights all over the ground as the Hawks dominated proceedings from the opening bounce to the final siren.
The team highlight came in the second term when Glen Orden produced one of the most dominant quarters of the season to put 15 goals past a helpless Albanvale defence.
There were also a number of individual highlights throughout the afternoon, with a 10-goal haul from forward and off-season recruit Damien Yze being the standout.
Also outstanding were Dashmir Barolli, Shayne Comensoli and Josh McDonald who combined for 14 goals between them.
Glen Orden’s senior team manager Louis Elevato was rapt with his club’s performance.
“Saturday was one of our more all-round performances where for nearly four quarters the boys played as a unit,” Elevato said.
“You could tell that a lot of things have started to come together and the boys are starting to really gel each week and every time they are playing together … things are starting to click.
“It was one of those days where everything clicked right and a 15-goal second quarter was one of the most impressive things the boys have been able to do.”
Saturday’s result sees Glen Orden remain undefeated and in second spot on the WRFL ladder after five rounds.
The Hawks sit behind only Manor Lakes, who have taken all before them in the club’s first season in the competition.
In what will be a blockbuster clash, the two sides are set to meet this weekend with the winner to be rewarded with outright top spot on the ladder.
Glen Orden recruit Kent Kingsley will line up for his first game for the Hawks, with the match set to take place on Sunday.
Manor Lakes enter the clash in hot form after beating Caroline Springs by 61 points on Saturday.
“We are looking forward to this week and we are expecting it to be one of our biggest games for the year,” Elevato said.
“Coming up against Manor Lakes who are also undefeated, we get along well with them. They are our next door neighbour so there is a good healthy rivalry and hopefully it will be a good game.”
