RESIDENTS of a quiet residential Tarneit street woke up to find a murder scene following a street fight that is believed to have led to the death of a man aged in his 30s.
A 35-year-old man and a woman aged in her 20s were arrested after police attended the crime scene at around 10.30pm last Thursday.
Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Mark Hatt of the Homicide Squad said police were still investigating the fight and the cause of the man’s death.
“The altercation obviously was violent given the circumstances of someone being deceased,” Det Hatt said.
“The parties were known to each other, again we’re trying to work through the investigation to establish exactly what they knew about each other.”
The deceased man was not from the Tarneit area and Det Hatt said both the arrested man and woman were connected to the address.
Anuraj Singh, who lives directly opposite the Felicity Drive house said he had only seen a man at the address a handful of times.
Mr Singh said he was shocked to discover a man could have been murdered in his street.
“Of course it’s shocking. I didn’t have any clue. My wife was washing up the dishes and she told me there was an ambulance,” Mr Singh said.
“I used to go to his pizza shop so I know him from the area. When I saw him he would ask me how I am.”
Homicide Squad detectives searched a BMW that was parked in front of the house where the man was found but would not say who it belonged to.
Mr Singh, who has lived on the street since July last year, said he had never seen the car before the night of the incident.
