Western Hospital campus manager Lydia Dennett said the hospital used the money to buy a second mobile X-ray machine.
“Its purpose is to provide emergency plain radiography services to patients who are too ill to travel safely to the radiology department,” she said.
“Provision of the new machine will allow radiology to offer a faster response time for mobile X-ray examinations to critical care areas and wards within Western Hospital.”
The money was raised by the craft group auxiliary and the Maribyrnong auxiliary, the groups raising the money by running stalls in the hospital foyer and from the sale of new and used items at the fund raising shop near the Gordon St entrance at the hospital.
“Western Hospital gratefully acknowledges the financial support of our auxiliaries over many years, which has allowed us to replace outdated medical equipment,” Ms Dennett said.
