Woman stabbed

A LALOR woman is recovering after being stabbed during a church service in Footscray on Sunday.
Police have charged a Reservoir woman, 24, with intentionally and recklessly causing serious injury after the Lalor woman was injured in the St Andrew’s Uniting Church in Barkly St.
Senior Constable Wayne Wilson said the 32-year-old from Lalor was stabbed her in the head and cheek.
Congregation members took the injured woman to medical services in Buckley St, where she was later taken to the Western Hospital and treated for cuts to the head and cheek.
The Reservoir woman was released on bail and was expected to appear at the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court today (Tuesday).
Footscray Police also responded to a fight outside a hotel in Maribyrnong on Sunday night.
Police said an 18-year-old man from Clarinda received minor cuts to his face after an altercation in a hotel car park.
Police do not have any witnesses to the attack, but it is expected the man was hit with a broken bottle.
