SCHOOLS in the City of Maribyrnong will take part in a project aimed at building tolerance in the community.
‘From where we were to where we are’ has been developed in partnership with the council, Braybrook College, Braybrook Primary School, Footscray Primary School, the Department of Education and Training and the School Focused Youth Services.
Councillor Michelle MacDonald said the initiative resulted from local schools and youth workers who noticed young people were “thinking in stereotypes about the cultural and religious beliefs of other young people”.
Forty-five students from different ethnic groups will produce a mural illustrating their cultural experiences and a book of stories.
