HOW to spot the early signs of serious illness in young children will be the topic of a free community seminar next week.
Nurse educator Gerry Silk will present important information to help parents and carers be better prepared to recognise and deal with health emergencies involving their children.
The seminar will be held on Wednesday 10 October in the Maribyrnong Town Hall from 7.30pm to 9.30pm.
The information session is one of three events being held in the municipality to coincide with Children’s Week and Community Safety Month.
In addition to the seminar, two practical hands-on sessions will equip residents with basic first aid skills with a particular focus on children.
The first Emergecare First Aid session will be held on Tuesday 23 October at Maribyrnong Community Centre from 9.30am to 12.30pm.
The session will be conducted again on Wednesday 24 October at the Maidstone Neighbourhood House from 7pm to 10pm.
The Emergecare sessions cost $45. To attend either event contact the Maribyrnong Community Centre on 9318 6655 or the Maidstone Community Centre on 9317 0747.
