Our hospitals

TWO Western Health hospitals failed to achieve five of nine key service benchmarks in a damning State Government report card.
Slipping standards at Sunshine Hospital and Footscray’s Western Hospital also saw a minimal dent in elective surgery waiting lists.
The two hospitals had 2646 on the elective surgery waiting list as of December 2007, only 44 less than at the end of June 2007.
Released last week, the Your Hospitals report documents the performance of Victorian hospitals between July and December 2007 through nine key benchmarks.
Six of the benchmarks relate to emer-gency department patients while the remaining three cover elective surgery.
