DERRIMUT youngster Oliver Ngo has his small hands on the hottest tickets in town.
The six-year-old was recently selected as the round 19 nominee for the AFL Auskicker of the Year Award.
Oliver was chosen ahead of thousands of others from across the country and set foot onto the MCG at halftime of the Collingwood-Geelong blockbuster in front of 85,000 people.
“The Collingwood fans were loud,” Oliver said of the experience.
“I like playing the game, practising, and having fun.”
But Oliver, a member of Derrimut Auskick Centre, will also attend this year’s AFL grand final.
He will march in the 2010 grand final parade, play on the MCG at halftime and present medals to the premiership players.
Oliver, a Western Bulldogs supporter, is hoping he can present a medallion to one of his heroes.
He has a long-list of them, with Matthew Boyd, Brian Lake, Shaun Higgins, Adam Cooney, Barry Hall all mentioned.
Oliver is also in the running to win $5000, along with the chance to receive personal footy mentoring from Geelong’s Joel Selwood next year.
The Derrimut Primary School student said he preferred to play in the midfield, but he also likes kicking a goal.
“The award looks beyond the best player on the ground. It is essential young children understand the importance of being a good teammate and looking out for others,” Derrimut Auskick co-ordinator Matt George said.
