YARRAVILLE’S David House is slowly but surely changing.
Community Services Minisiter Mary Wooldridge officially opened staged one of the David House redevelopment recently as part of an overall face lift to revamp the headquarters into a modern community and learning centre.
David House, through its auspice organisation Annecto, helps over 300 people with physical and intellectual disabilities in the West and their families through a range of programs and activities designed to promote independent living and social inclusion.
The service also links its clients with other support services.
The David House headquarters buildings were all in varying states of disrepair when works started in 2009.
The redevelopment will alter the current design and configuration of the buildings and will be staggered over several years to allow David House to operate as per normal.
“This redevelopment is much more than a new building, it is an opportunity for people living with a disability to connect with other services and enrich their lives in areas such as further education, employment options and housing,” Ms Wooldridge said.
