LOCAL councils can apply for grants of up to $250,000 to fund public safety infrastructure projects in a bid to prevent crime and make communities safer.
The grants of up to $250,000 would support local councils in developing a variety of public safety infrastructure, closed-circuit television systems, vandal-resistant external lighting systems, security grade doors, perimeter fencing, bollards, window treatments and screens and alarms for community assets and facilities.
Western Metropolitan Region MP Andrew Elsbury said the grants were part of a $39 million commitment towards community crime prevention.
Minister for Crime Prevention Andrew McIntosh said action on community safety and crime prevention was a high priority for the State Government.
