VIOLENCE against women – Peter Daglish says no.
The Maribyrnong City Council capital works officer is a finalist in the 2011 White Ribbon Ambassador of the Year Awards in recognition of his community work to stop violence against women.
“My most memorable moment in the campaign was seeing the number of young people involved in last year’s White Ribbon Day activities, proving to me that there is a positive message being sent and received by the youth in our community,” Mr Daglish said.
Mr Daglish is one of 11 inspiring male role models across the country named as a finalist.
The White Ribbon Ambassador of the Year Award acknowledges the efforts of dedicated men acting as advocates for change, working to curb the frightening reality that one in three Australian women has experienced physical or sexual violence or abuse.
“Peter has really shown his dedication to tackling the issue of violence against women,” White Ribbon Ambassador Program Manager Paul McGlew said.
“Peter provides a shining example of the fantastic work of White Ribbon Ambassadors across the country.
“The White Ribbon Ambassador of the Year Award is about thanking ambassadors and highlighting that every man has a role to play.”
