RAIN has played havoc at the inaugural Hunter French Cup on Sunday with no play possible.
The competition was a Twenty20 knockout event involving Altona North, Laverton, West Newport and Wyndham Vale Cricket Clubs and was also going to involve $1000 draw and entertainment.
Wyndham Vale club president Christopher Plummer said it was too early to know if the competition would be rescheduled.
“We would like to, the concept was great and if we physically can we will either do it there or at another ground,” he said.
“It’s disappointing about the weather but we really like the idea about how we are going to make it an annual event with each one of the teams doing a round-robin.
We aren’t sure which club it will be next year but it will be great.”
Plummer said it was good for the clubs to be working together after they all had experienced a tough time last year.
“Altona North had their major function on today so we bought tickets for that and then they bought the same number of tickets back for our function in February so there is a lot of goodwill fostering between the clubs that way as well,” Plummer said.
“After last year and the hammering a lot of clubs took off the field because of the weather things like today are great.”
