IT WAS an up and down weekend for Werribee in the Bowls Victoria division one pennant finals.
The Bees got off to a blistering start, defeating Bundoora RSL 85-68 in the competition’s semi-finals.
“It was very good to get over the line on Saturday and we are very happy,” Werribee’s Brendan Barker said after the match.
“It was definitely one of our best performances of the year. We got a good start on their patch. It was really good to get that jump and we kept the lead all day. It was a great team effort across the board.”
The Bees then fronted up the next day to take on Kew Heights in the grand final.
Kew had caused a major upset the day before, taking out top-of-the-table Deer Park in their semi-final clash.
There was no slowing down the momentum of that victory, with Kew again producing some of its best bowls at the right time of the season to claim a 91-51 win.
Other section winners in division one were Lalor, Heathmont and Yarra Glen.
