BATTING and bowling performances sizzled as the temperatures soared over the weekend, with a number of exceptional individual efforts across local cricket leagues.
There were monumental batting knocks, such as that of Sunshine Druids player Lee Fraser, who bashed the bowling around over two weeks to amass 169 runs – the highest individual score in any Victorian Turf Cricket Association senior grade so far this season.
In the Williamstown and District League, Ryan Radford also found the runs flowing from his bat with a majestic 95. The bowlers also featured prominently, especially the feats of Ashleigh Lewis in the Western Suburbs Churches league, who took nine wickets for Altona Roosters against Glenorden.
Altona’s Matthew Boglis was the most outstanding player of the West teams in the Victorian Sub District Cricket Association on Saturday, taking six wickets against Yarraville.
December week two nominations:
VTCA – Lee Fraser (Sunshine Druids) 169 runs
WDCA – Ryan Radford (Wyndhamvale) 95 runs
VSDCA – Matthew Boglis (Altona) 6/41
WSUCCA – Ashleigh Lewis (Altona Roosters) 5/19 and 4/27
