National camp a boost for Stogic

EMERGING St Albans ace Stephanie Stogic is one of 10 junior players selected to attend the National High Performance Camp in Darwin next month.
Stogic is already a member of Victoria’s National High Performance Academy based at the Melbourne Park Tennis Centre, but will travel to the Northern Territory with the rest of the country’s best under 12 players.
The 12-year-old’s training’s four times a week at the tennis centre includes all facets of the game.
“She has been working very hard and recently made the semi-finals of the national tournament held in Mildura,” Stephanie’s father, Milenko, said.
“She has been working extremely hard and it takes up a lot of her time.
“She is at the academy four times a week and goes there straight after school, so it is a big commitment.
“But she is in a privileged position to be able to get the best coaching and facilities available to her which will help her game.
“But all the travelling to get to where she has to go isn’t cheap.”
Stogic will also travel to Brisbane for a number of tournaments in June before heading to Darwin.
The camp, which will run for six days, is organised by Tennis Australia.
“The camp will be great for her and to be one of only 10 players to be able to go,” Milenko said.
“She will get a lot out of it and will learn a lot. It’s very important to her.”
The Stogics are seeking support though sponsorship and anyone wanting to help can phone Milenko on 0425 732 782.
