NINE bin stations will be installed at the Sunvale Primary School thanks to a State Government grant to push recycling.
Footscray MP Marsha Thomson announced the funding allocation for the school, which will see nine bin stations, each comprising a recycling and waste bin, to be installed inside and outside the Sunshine Leisure Centre as part of the recycling initiative.
The 167,000 people who visit Sunshine Leisure Centre each year will now be able to recycle.
Brimbank City Council mayor Margaret Giudice said the council was inviting local students to submit posters and slogans about recycling to be displayed on the bins at the Sunshine Leisure Centre.
“The council is approaching schools to get students involved by designing posters or coming up with catchy slogans to get young people thinking about recycling and give them a chance to win great prizes,” Cr Giudice said.
“The student artwork and slogans will be used to inspire residents of Brimbank to recycle correctly.”
Sunshine Leisure Centre is part of a broader initiative to increase recycling and waste minimisation at Victoria’s major sporting and recreation venues.
