YARRAVILLE Club paceman Emmet Bronca becomes the second Western Region Cricket Centre Cricketer of the Year nominee, and the second from his club.
Emphasising the dominance Yarraville Club is enjoying in the Victorian Turf Cricket Association so far this summer, Bronca follows team-mate Justin Baker to be in the running for the grand prize at the end of the season.
Bronca’s statistics are impossible to ignore and he ranks among the leading bowlers in the western region heading into December.
His past month has been brilliant and he is one of the key reasons his side sits on top of the VTCA table after four rounds.
He took his third five-wicket haul for the season on Saturday against Altona North, finishing with 5/73 from 25 overs.
Bronca already has 20 wickets to his name for the season at a credible average of 12.65.
He also holds a strike rate of 27.0 and is clearly the leading bowling in the competition.
The final nominations for the Cricketer of the Month for November were as follows:
Emmet Bronca (Yarraville Club, VTCA), 5/73
Timothy English (Roxburgh Park, NWCA), 79
Graham Murdoch (Williamstown, VSDCA), 65
Brian Bourchier (Altona North,VTCA) 64
The Western Region Cricket Centre cricketer of the month, selected at the end of each month, will receive four net sessions values at $240 and a 20 per cent discount on anything at the centre, in Geelong Rd, Brooklyn.
Star will publish up to four senior grade players from the western suburbs per week who have been the stand-out performers.
Each weekly nominee will receive two free net sessions.
All will then be in the running for the cricketer of the month, from whom an eventually Cricketer of the Year will be selected.
