BATSMEN ruled the bowlers again in the weekend’s cricket, with dried out grounds making for plenty of runs.
Bowlers toiled hard to make inroads, but more perfect batting conditions in contrast to last week’s heat wave presented players with a perfect opportunity to build big scores.
As in other weeks, there were some hefty centuries scored, including a massive 162 by Paul Mills in the North West Cricket Association.
In the Turf leagues, Joe Andreula only narrowly missed out on his 150, while Darren Ward continued Altona’s strong representation in the Cricketer of the Month competition after his knock of 85. Edward Maddern was the best performer in the Williamstown and District’s one-day weekend, while Glen Jefferies smashed 75 for Altona Roosters in the Western Suburbs Churches league.
December week three nominations:
VTCA – Joe Andreula (Albion) 147 runs

VSDCA – Darren Ward (Altona) 85 runs
WSUCCA – Glen Jefferies (Altona Roosters) 75 runs
NWCA – Paul Mills (Buckley Park) 162 runs
