AN EXTENSIVE road works program in St Albans is near completion and is set to ease traffic congestion by the end of this year, according to Brimbank Council.
Erica, Marshall and Yarmouth Avenues and Chelmsford Crescent have all been subject to major improvement works as part of the council’s 2005/06 capital works program.
The improvements include new road pavement and asphalting, drainage, new footpath and the refurbishment of existing vehicle crossings.
The total cost of the works is $1.6 million.
The Erica Avenue works are nearly half complete, while the other works are also under way and should be completed by late 2006.
“These roads are well used by local traffic and were in need of treatment,” Cr Anthony Abate said.
“Residents will be pleased with the works being undertaken and the improved roads should improve local travel.”
