SUNSHINE Heights booked itself a second semi final berth following a confidence soaring 34-point win over North Footscray on Saturday in the qualifying final.
The Heights will take on Western Region Football League (WRFL) Division Two competition heavyweight West Footscray on Saturday at Yarraville Oval.
They played the ground perfectly against North Footscray. If they can produce a similar performance against the ladder leader this week, they’ll rate themselves a chance of causing a major boil-over.
They had a plethora of midfield options which wore their opponents down.
Steven Soto, Nicholas Mallia, Ben Henderson and Adrian Pante were all solid contributors in the 16.9.105 to 10.11.71 victory.
They will need to find a way to combat the powerful West Footscray forward line next week.
West Footscray were keen spectators at the Yarraville Oval on Saturday and will be cherry ripe for the occasion, having had the week off.
West Footscray finished the home and away rounds on top of the WRFL ladder and went through the entire season undefeated.
It’s a formidable form-line and they will start a raging favourite to continue the streak next week.
Albanvale has progressed to the first semi final following a thrilling five point win over Deer Park.
In a brilliant finals match, Albanvale kept its nose in front at the final siren to set up a semi final showdown with North Footscray.
For Deer Park it was a brave and gallant end to the season.
