Sunshine in the running

HONOURS were shared between Sunshine and Ormond in the battle of the wooden spoon on day one of the First X1 South/West Round Ten match in the Victorian Sub District Cricket Association.
Ormond compiled 205 for 9 declared over the winless Sunshine.
Sunshine will be out to break the drought this Saturday. They are certainly capable with the bat, having passed the 200-run barrier on three occasions this season.
In other games, Altona gained the ascendancy on day one against Broadmeadows at Sewell Reserve.
Batting first, Broadmeadows crumbled against Altona’s bowling line-up to be all out for 123.
Anthony Rafferty (4/34) was the star bowler for Altona, with Lewis (3/16) another valuable contributor.
Altona will be looking to make quick runs this Saturday to ensure a victory and consolidate its top four spot in the VSDCA south/west group.
In an all-western suburban affair, Yarraville is on track for a win against Werribee at Chirnside Park.
Yarraville compiled 4 for 278 with Leigh Holmes (86), Peter Randford (69) and Warren Patterson (35 not out) all making solid contributions with the bat.
In reply, Werribee lost early wickets and was 3 for 76 at stumps.
Williamstown (2/51) will be on the hunt for quick runs this Saturday after it bowled out the Kingston Saints for 159.
Kingston Saints batsman Steve Kingwell’s sparkling innings of 91 saved his side from an embarrassing first innings total.
Williamstown bowlers Cain Speakman (4/37) and the evergreen Daryl Clemson (3/23) dominated with the ball.
