HAKKI Suleyman, father of Brimbank mayor Natalie Suleyman, has been awarded one of Victoria’s multicultural affairs awards during a ceremony at Government House last week.
Mr Suleyman, who is president of the Migrant Resource Centre (MRC) and a powerful political figure in Melbourne’s West, was one of the 15 individuals and organisations from Brimbank and surrounding areas to receive an Excellence Award for Multicultural Affairs.
Hosted by Victorian Governor David de Krester, the awards recognised individuals and organisations that have made a contribution to multicultural affairs, with 160 awards presented right across the state.
Papadakis Park, in Sunshine West, and the Brimbank Hungarian Senior Citizens Club, were also handed awards, along with other local members of the multicultural community.
