A RETRIAL for disgraced former MP Andrew Theophanous was scheduled to begin in the County Court yesterday (Monday).
The former Calwell and Burke MP, who served more than 20 years in federal politics, is being retried on conspiracy charges.
Dr Theophanous has served 21 months of a three-year jail term for corruption and bribery.
The retrial relates to his previous convictions when he was found guilty of receiving cash kickbacks for helping immigrants obtain visas.
Dr Theophanous will defend himself at the trial which is expected to last six weeks.
