FOR Keilor East’s Georgia Finch, getting on a bike is not just part of a fitness regime, it’s a social outing and almost as good as an ice cold drink – almost.
“My friend and I, rather than just going for a drink, would go for a bike ride – and then we’d go for a drink,” Ms Finch said as she geared up for Bike Path Discovery Day.
Ms Finch, who has just joined Bicycle Victoria – a community organisation that encourages cycling across the state – has only been riding for a couple of years but said it was a great way to keep fit and enjoy the local environment.
And the rest of Brimbank will be able to discover the fun of riding around on two wheels on Sunday 4 March when Bike Path Discovery Day comes to Brimbank Park.
Riders can register at the Bicycle Victoria website (www.bv.com.au), and on the day can join hundreds of others on rides that range from 4.3km to 35km.
The day will be fun for the whole family, with parents encouraged to bring along their children and get involved in the day which kicks off at 10am.
