RESIDENTS can look forward to an annual hard waste collection for the next three years after Brimbank City Council approved a $1 million contract recently.
Cr Natalie Suleyman said she was pleased the contract would run for three years after the service was reintroduced in 2005 following residents’ calls.
The council also awarded contracts for roads, plumbing services, footpath and kerb maintenance and the construction of a pavilion and floodlighting.
The road contract will see the rehabilitation of Maryvale St in Sunshine, Lachlan Rd in Sunshine West and Canterbury St in Deer Park for more than $900,000.
The plumbing contract was for the provision of services to council’s buildings and facilities for three years for $450,000.
Three one-year contracts were awarded for the footpath and kerb maintenance, of which the council is responsible for 1350km of footpaths and 800km of kerb and channel.
The council approved the contracts for a new pavilion to be built at Deer Park Reserve, along with the upgrade of training lights to meet the Australian sports field lighting standards, as part of the $1.2 million redevelopment of the reserve.
