A PETER Radfordinspired Yarraville has picked up its first points in the Victorian Sub District Cricket Association with a first innings over Sunshine on Saturday.
Radford blasted 88 runs to help Yarraville past the target of 113 set by Sunshine on the first day the previous week.
After Yarraville lost two early wickets before stumps, Radford led the team to 6/202 before sending Sunshine back in to search for an outright victory.
John Causon (29) led the resistance and saved his side from outright defeat, Sunshine ending the day at 4/86.
Werribee is also on the winning list after a 39run victory over Brunswick, thanks to some brilliant individual performances.
Brendan Delaney was in fine touch with the bat, hitting 68 in Werribee’s total of 180, and Matthew Mason, with figures of 4/29, ensured Brunswick was kept to 141 in its first innings.
Williamstown lost the battle of the bowlers against Broadmeadows, failing to defend its total of 96 after day one.
Broadmeadows resumed at 4/41 on the second day and won the game in the 78th over with seven wickets down, before finishing all out on 138 from 94 overs.
Mohammed Mostadir (4/40), Cain McGregor (2/17) and Daryl Clemson (2/13) were the best of the bowlers for Williamstown.
