HER best friend’s death from breast cancer changed Andrea Pearsall’s world – her own diagnosis with the disease spurred this Burnside mother to action.
Ms Pearsall is organising a fundraising breakfast for the Pink Ribbon Foundation to further research into breast cancer.
The event will include raffles of prizes donated by local businesses.
Ms Pearsall was diagnosed with breast cancer three years ago, but early detection meant she was able to get the better of the disease.
“I was very lucky that I caught it early on before the cancer began to develop,” she said.
“For my friend, it was more aggressive.”
As a survivor of breast cancer, Ms Pearsall said she wanted to do all she could to aid research for the benefit of women yet to be diagnosed.
The fundraiser will be held at the Assemblies of God Good Shepherd Christian Church, 32 Derrimut St, Albion, on 23 October, from 10am.
