BRIMBANK City mayor Natalie Suleyman has criticised the State Government and the Opposition for releasing election policies promising reduced rail fares, with the western suburbs being excluded.
Cr Suleyman called on the parties to commit to extending Zone 1 on the Sydenham line, which would save more than $600 a year for daily commuters from Ginifer, St Albans, Keilor Plains and Watergarens stations to the city. Zone 1 currently finishes at Albion Station.
“The fare structure on the Sydenham line is a glaring anomaly and grossly unfair,” Cr Suleyman said.
