TAYLORS Lakes amateur boxing sensation Heath Ellis is gearing up for yet another challenge in his young career as he prepares to don the gloves for the national championships later this month.
Ellis will apply to compete in the intermediate and open classes, and is hoping to add another trophy to an already impressive list of accolades.
The 17yearold was also due to compete at the Victorian championships this month, but could not secure an opponent. Instead he will nominate for the nationals in Bendigo in what will prove to be a test run for a planned shift to the professional ranks when he turns 18 next year.
