NEWLY arrived migrants in the West will benefit from a recent grant of funds to the Migrant Resource Centre in St Albans.
The North West Region’s centre has received more than $800,000 in funding under the Settlements Grants Program, which will go towards providing migrants with the information they need to integrate into the community.
The centre’s acting executive officer, Fodia Andreou, said the money would help the organisation continue with the work it had been doing over the past 15 years.
“We’re ensuring that access and equity are fulfilled and that’s been the Migrant Resource Centre’s role for the past 15 years and hopefully for the next 15 years to come,” Ms Andreou said.
The St Albans centre was one of 360 applicants from across the nation that applied for the funding.
The Settlements Grants Program provides $30 million in funding which goes to local organisations that offer services to individuals, groups and communities, which are designed to enable them to participate fully in their local community.
