A SMALL dog’s adventure last month could have ended up in tragedy.
Star journalist Kerri-Anne Mesner was in Ballarat Rd, near St Peters Chanel Primary School, waiting to do an interview, when a little black and white dog approached her.
Realising the dog was alone, Ms Mesner checked its collar for a tag so she could take it home.
But the dog, later found to be named Ruby, had other plans.
She jumped into the reporter’s car and made herself comfortable on the passenger seat.
Ruby did not have a tag so, after the interview, Ms Mesner took her to the Brimbank Animal Refuge on Stadium Drive, Keilor Park, where a scan showed she was fitted with a microchip.
Ruby had wandered more 8km from her Dohertys Rd home to where she was found.
Moral of the story: Ruby was saved from possibly being run over and was saved by her microchip.
