Bulldogs roll over again

SO CLOSE yet so far, that has been the theme of late for Footscray Hockey Club’s Men’s State League Two side which went down to Melbourne High School in another close game, 3-2.
The match started in positive fashion for the Bulldogs who were playing with confidence and displaying precision ball movement across the ground. Getting control of the game early against third-placed Melbourne High was exactly what was required.
Within 15 minutes Footscray opened the scoring through a field goal to Glen O’Shannessy. Up 2-0 at half time, Footscray could sense a win was near; however, Melbourne High came out firing in the second half.
The momentum had turned and two further goals to Melbourne High within the next 10 minutes sealed it.
Footscray had its own chances late in the game to level the scores but failed to find the back of the net.
Footscray’s State League Two women also needed a win, playing against Monash University on Saturday; however Monash proved too good, the final score, 3-1.
