Association hits 25 year mark

THE St Albans Good Friday association will celebrate 25 years of existence next month.
The association, which organises an annual Good Friday festival for the Brimbank community, has grown significantly since it began in 1984.
The first festival had only one portrait and around 100 guests, but today, the festival features life-size statues, biblical characters and attracts thousands of onlookers.
Celebrations for this year’s Good Friday festival began this week and will continue until the evening of Easter Sunday.
The Good Friday event this year will be held at St Paul’s Church, Sunshine Ave, Kealba.
The Good Friday Liturgy begins at 2.30pm while the Good Friday Pageant will start at 5pm on April 10.
The festival has received much community support over the years with fund-raisers leading to the festival’s growth.
Association president Lewis Stafrace said he hoped other community groups would join it to help produce even better festivals in the future that will have broad cultural representation.
