Sunshine police officers had to call on the Victorian Dog Squad twice last week to assist with call outs.
Police officers in the West had a busy shift last Friday morning attending to an armed robbery and an attempted break in.
Police were called to the armed robbery in Gunnedah St at 12.20am on Friday morning after a taxi driver was robbed of his car, wallet and days’ takings.
The driver had picked up two men from the Sunshine railway station and had taken them to Gunnedah St when it is believed they produced a knife and demanded cash.
Police believe the taxi was driven to King Edward Drive and then dumped by the offenders.
The dog squad was used to track the offenders to a house in Adelaide St, Sunshine.
Although the offenders attempted to flee from the back door of the house, police apprehended an 18-year-old and 23-year-old, both from Braybrook. It is believed the two men are helping police with their investigations.
Not long after, police were called to a possible break in at Sunshine College in Graham St.
Again with the help of the dog squad, a 27-year-old man and 24-year-old man, both from West Footscray, were arrested.
The two men are also helping police officers with their investigations.
