The operation targeted pedestrians illegally crossing tracks, using emergency gates and climbing onto platforms and focused on motorists disobeying traffic lights.
Brimbank traffic management unit issued 59 penalty notices to 55 drivers and four pedestrians for a number of offences including 21 drivers for level crossing offences, 19 for traffic light offences and four pedestrians for illegally crossing rail lines.
Brimbank TMU Sergeant Rod Stein said similar operations would take place again.
“Level crossings are dangerous only if you disobey the simple rules,” he said.
