JAMIE Willis has spent the past four years singing her heart out in the hopes of making it in the music industry.
The Deer Park teenager has auditioned for Brimbank Idol annually since 2006 and is hoping that this year could be her big chance to take out the trophy.
No one could doubt the 15-year-old’s passion for music.
Jamie is the first to admit that she drives her family crazy with her musical mania.
“I sing everywhere I go,” Jamie said.
“I sing in the shower, I sing in the car. I even sing every day when I’m walking to school.
“I don’t know what people would think if they heard me. I don’t really notice because I’m too caught up in the moment.
“When I sing too much I annoy my family and they tell me to shut up.”
The Brimbank College student has studied singing for more than six years and has recently begun composing her own songs.
“I find my inspiration in my day-to-day life,” Jamie said.
“I write about things that affect me like relationships and friendships.”
Despite being a seasoned performer, the talented teenager said she still fought off nerves every time she took to the stage.
“It’s really nerve-wracking,” Jamie said.
“I always get butterflies before I go on stage.
“It’s not something that you get used to but when you get on stage and start singing it goes away.”
Finalists for the Brimbank Idol competition will be judged during the Brimbank Festival this month.
