BRIMBANK Police seized five weapons and handed out more than 300 fines during a massive operation in Sunshine last week.
Around 250 police, including local officers, members of the Operational Response Unit and transit and traffic units, flooded the streets as part of Operation Guardian, an initiative aimed to drive down attacks against international students.
During the four day operation, police uncovered five weapons, including batons and knives and laid 72 charges, ranging from criminal to traffic offences.
Police also issued 315 traffic and public order penalty notices and breath tested more than 1300 people.
Three people were arrested for robbery and two cars were impounded.
The operation also spilled into neighbouring suburbs, including St Albans and Altona.
Keilor Downs police officers participating in the operation seized 12 marijuana plants during a random car search in St Albans on the first night.
A Seabrook hoon had his car impounded and his licence suspended when two off-duty police officers clocked him at 167km/per hour on the West Gate Freeway.
Brimbank Police Inspector Michael Grainger said police visited 79 local businesses and spoke to more than 3300 people.
He said the operation received positive feedback from the community.
