THE first ball of the season has not been sent down yet, but Yarraville Cricket Club is already celebrating a significant achievement.
The Yarraville-Seddon Eagles Junior Cricket Club and Yarraville Cricket Club have amalgamated in what is seen as a major step in cultivating the next generation of Eagles.
“I can’t express how delighted I and we at the club are to have the junior arm consolidated within our group,” club president Graham Jarry said.
“It’s an enormous step forward for us to now be able to put the resources we have at our disposal to use in aiding the development of young boys and girls.
“This wouldn’t have been possible without the past year’s great relationship we had with the Yarraville-Seddon Eagles Junior Cricket Club and we intend on continuing their great work by providing a strong, high quality coaching and development-based junior program.”
Senior coach George Shaw played a significant role in the union having run a successful junior winter development program in the past few years.
“Our club’s aim of providing the best junior program in our region has received a shot in the arm with the addition of these teams,” Shaw said.
Yarraville Cricket Club’s junior co-ordinator Nick Duson said: “It’s great to see all age groups represented this year during this amalgamation of the junior and seniors teams. I’m thrilled with the player retention numbers from the Yarraville Seddon-Eagles Juniors and already I’m seeing plenty of talented, young players eager to get themselves on the park and start playing.”
The club welcomes all young cricketers eager to get involved with the Yarraville Cricket Club, especially youngsters who could contribute to bolstering under-13 numbers
A junior registration day will be held soon, but for more information on junior teams or the Milo In2Cricket Program, contact Nick Duxson on 0447 574 511 or email nickduxson@gmail.com.
