Seniors have company on the menu

MARIBYRNONG City Council has joined the Community Chef program to provide meals for its Food Services program.
Meals will now be prepared by Community Chef and delivered to the relocated Footscray Senior Citizens Centre in Raleigh Rd, Maribyrnong, for distribution by council staff.
Shared meals are served in the dining room at the Raleigh Rd centre to encourage social interaction.
The council’s Food Services program provides 67,000 meals each year to the homes of residents who are having difficulty preparing adequate meals for themselves or to people signed up to the Shared Meals program.
“Community Chef was created specifically to provide ‘meals on wheels’ services and will offer our residents a great menu choice,” mayor Sarah Carter said.
Community Chef is a wholly-owned local government enterprise that makes meals for the delivered meals programs of 21 Victorian councils.
