Shelter for St John Ambulance volunteers

The Armidale Division of St John Ambulance Australia (NSW) will now have shelter from the elements thanks to a donation of $800 from the Armidale Lions Club.
The portable shelter will be used at the many local community and public duties that St John volunteers attend and will provide a sheltered area for both volunteers and the people they attend to.
Armidale Division Officer-in-Charge Peter Cameron says that the donation has enhanced the service that the Division can offer to the public.
“We’re very thankful to the Armidale Lions Club for their generous donation that has enabled the purchase of this shelter,” said Mr Cameron.
“Our volunteers spend many hours outdoors at public and community events and it is just as important to protect them from the elements as it is to shelter anyone we treat.”
The Armidale Division of St John was formed in 1980 and covers many community events such as the Armidale Show, the Autumn Festival, Carols by Candlelight, the Sustainable Living Expo as well as music concerts, horse and sporting events.
The Division currently has 10 members and in 2011, they covered 72 local events, treated close to 350 people and provided nearly 4500 hours of voluntary service.
