Nathan Cayless to be MC at “Dinner with the Eels’

Nathan Cayless, who captained the Parramatta Eels in 217 National Rugby League games between 2000 and 2010, will be Master of Ceremonies at Armidale’s Dinner with the Eels on Thursday, February 2.
The dinner, at Armidale Ex-Services Memorial Club, will be one of the occasions when members of the public will have the opportunity to meet Eels players during the team’s pre-season training camp at the University of New England. The Eels arrived yesterday in Armidale where a Civic Reception was held in the Armidale Mall, and the team are currently training until February 3. The Eels will conduct a free junior coaching clinic from 5pm to 6.30pm at Harris Park today, February 1. Spectators will also be welcome at the team’s open training sessions at Sport UNE, beginning at 8.45am today, February 1 and 9.45am on Thursday, February 2.
Nathan Cayless, who is now Corporate Sales Manager for the Eels, played with the team from January 1996 to October 2010. Internationally, he played with the New Zealand national Rugby League team between 1998 and 2009, captaining the team when it won the World Cup in 2008.
Speaking of his career as a Rugby League player, he is quoted as saying: “I was fortunate to have lived out my dream.”

UNE is a jersey sponsor of the Eels this year and, in conjunction with Armidale Dumaresq Council, is sponsoring the team’s visit to the region.
