AT ONLY nine years old, West Footscray resident Will has already starred in an award-winning short film.
The Grade 3 pupil was cast in the seven-minute movie ‘Love is a Many Childish Thing’, which was a finalist in the national Poetry In Film Festival (PIFF).
Earlier this year, Will spent two days filming the movie, which went on to win the people’s choice award at the PIFF screening last month.
Will said repeatedly filming scenes from different angles was not a trial for him.
“It was fun, I just think it was a pretty fun experience doing it,” he said.
At the PIFF screening, Will said it was an “exciting” experience to see his name in the credits and also watch himself on the big screen.
“It also felt a bit weird, because I’m sitting there, but there I was on the screen,” he said.
Will began acting this year, joining Adam Turnbull Acting (ATA) classes in Maidstone.
“I like going to classes because they’re really fun,” Will said.
“I do like learning lines.
“I want to be an actor, possibly in everything.”
In last week’s ATA showcase performance, Will played Harry Potter character Neville Longbottom and also Goose from BMX Bandits in another scene.
“In the BMX bandits scene, everyone forgets their lines so I have to make them up,” he said.
Will said he would like to be in a theatrical show or film in the future, but his main aim was to be in a television commercial, like his acting teacher Mr Turnbull.
“It would be cool to be in ads like him,” he said.
